Jay’s Brewing Malt Spotlight – Simpson’s Aromatic Malt

September 29, 2017

2017, General posting, Malt Spotlight

This week’s Jay’s Brewing Malt Spotlight is Simpson’s Aromatic Malt. This malt is a highly kilned, European malt. Using this malt produces strong malty flavored beers with a touch of raisin and honey. Less prominently, this malt can be used to provide sour-after notes. When combined with good carbonation, these flavors come together to produce stellar mouthfeel and body; which is considered an important part of any BritishAle. Aromatic malt is a very versatile product. It can be used in recipes with as little as 5% to give your beer that honey aroma, or it can be used up to 50% as a base malt to be added to your darker beer recipes.

This and 58 other malts are available year-round at Jay’s Brewing in Manassas, VA.
